What is a VIN?

VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) is a unique 17-digit code that unambiguously and distinctively identifies each vehicle. It is stamped directly on the vehicle body and all records of the vehicle are filed under this number.

Where to find the VIN?

VIN is stamped directly on the vehicle or it can be found on the vehicle registration certificate and other vehicle documents. If you want to check a car advertised on the internet, ask your car dealer for a VIN code. More information on where to look for a VIN can be found here.

Where do vehicle records come from?

Cebia collects vehicle records from over 32 countries. The records most often come from official registers, car dealerships, police databases, damaged vehicle databases, insurance companies or classifieds portals.

Does Cebia also check vehicles abroad?

Yes. Each vehicle is checked against databases of records from more than 32 countries (including Germany, Denmark and the USA). After entering the VIN, you can see what records were found in our database and how dated these records are. We provide all this information in our free Summary of Available Information.

What information can I find out about the vehicle?

The range of information varies for each vehicle depending on its age and history. You can get an overview of the available checks for free after entering the VIN. We always try to get as much information as possible for each VIN entered.

What does the Car History Report look like?

Car History Report contains the records found about the vehicle's history. Most often these are past odometer records, vehicle damage data, technical inspection records, vehicle photos or vehicle advertising records. You can find more in the Sample Report.

How much does a Car History Report cost?

The cost of the report depends on the amount and range of information available regarding the vehicle being checked. You can find out the scope of available information and the associated cost of the Car History Report by entering the vehicle's VIN code.

How can I pay?

You can pay online with a credit card or via Google Pay and Apple Pay. Payments are handled by a secure payment gateway GoPay.

How long will it take me to receive the Report?

The Report is generated immediately after the payment is received. The service works around the clock and the whole process is automatic.

Can I enter my company details when making the payment?

When filling in your details, you can enter your company's details. However, only a simplified tax document is generated after payment. If you want to receive an invoice, please contact us at info@scout24inspections.com .

How to access the Car History Report?

The Car History Report is generated automatically as soon as the payment is received. A link to the result and your Report ID will also be sent to the email address you entered at the time of purchase. The Car History Report can be viewed online for 30 days after it has been generated.

The payment was not successful, now what?

If for some reason the payment did not go through, go back one step and make the payment again. If you have been charged but still have not received a confirmation email, please contact us at info@scout24inspections.com .

No damage records were found, what does this mean?

In this case we have found no damage records for the vehicle being inspected in our databases containing over 200 million damage records from 32 European countries and the USA. This fact substantially increases the likelihood that the car being inspected has not been crashed in the past.

How long will the Report be available?

It will be available for 30 days after it is generated. You can view it using a link sent to the email address you provided when you purchased the Report.

I have not received a confirmation email, what can I do?

An email is automatically generated after payment, if it has not arrived in your inbox, please contact us at info@scout24inspections.com. Please include the Report ID or VIN number in the message.

I entered the wrong email, now what?

No worries. Please email us at info@scout24inspections.com with the correct email address and include the Report ID found in the Report. We will then send the access link to the correct email address.

How to make a complaint about a Car History Report?

The Report can be complained about. If you suspect that incorrect information is included in the Report, please contact our customer service department at info.en@cebia.com.

Can an invoice be issued?

Due to the cost of the verification, only a simplified tax document is automatically generated. Please contact us at info@scout24inspections.com for an invoice. To speed things up, please also include the coupon number in the email you received after your purchase.
